This bill would expand the powers of the Australian Grape and Wine Authority so it can run programs for cider and international wine tourism, and hand out grants for wine.
It would achieve this by amending the Australian Grape and Wine Authority Act 2013 to add those activities to the Authority's allowed functions.
The bill would also formally rename the Authority to Wine Australia.
- The Authority would gain the ability to administer all parts of the Wine Support Package, including for cider and international wine tourism.
- The Authority would be able to run grant programs for wine as defined in the Wine Equalisation Tax Act 1999.
- The name of the Authority would change from Australian Grape and Wine Authority to Wine Australia.
The Australian Grape and Wine Authority and the wine industry, including cider producers and wine tourism businesses.
