Division

The majority voted against a motion introduced by Labor MP [Catherine King](https://theyvoteforyou.org.au/people/representatives/ballarat/catherine_king), which would have amended the usual [second reading motion](https://www.peo.gov.au/learning/fact-sheets/making-a-law.html) "that the bill be read a second time" (which is parliamentary jargon for agreeing with the main idea of the bill) and replace it with the following: > *That all words after "That" be omitted with a view to substituting the following words:* > *"whilst not declining to give the bill a second reading, the House calls on the Government to suspend the 'opt out' phase of the My Health Record rollout until other privacy and security concerns are addressed."*

House of Representatives, 2018-09-19. negative: ayes 67, noes 73.
