This bill would make two changes to laws affecting Australian Defence Force members and veterans.
It would extend from two to five years the period after leaving the ADF during which a veteran can apply for a home loan subsidy under the Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme.
The bill would also clarify that former ADF members who served at least 12 months can continue contributing to their ADF Super accounts, and would require ADF Super to obtain insurance for those no longer serving.
- Extends the time to apply for a DHOAS subsidy certificate from two years to five years after separating from the ADF.
- Allows former ADF members with at least 12 months of service to keep making contributions to ADF Super.
- Requires ADF Super to obtain insurance for members who are no longer serving, amending the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993.
